It's Still Too Dang Hot 🥵

Stay Hydrated, Friends

It is, once again, excessively hot outside which means I am once again reminding you to please stay hydrated.

Drink water.
Drink electrolyte drinks (Gatorade, Powerade, Liquid IV, etc.)
Eat water-rich foods like many fruits and vegetables.
Stay in the shade if possible and wear light, loose-fitting clothing.

You might be sick of hearing it (and it's only the second week of July), but the extreme heat and humidity is especially dangerous for children, older adults, those who are pregnant, and anyone who's outdoors in the sun for extended periods of time.

Two weekends ago, over the 4th of July holiday, I sat outside in 100+ degree heat index at a parade and I was...honestly fine. I drank a ton of water, had a Liquid IV, was prepared with a personal fan, had a shady spot, and ate foods with high water content before and after.

This weekend, when it felt slightly less oppressive, I went to the Orioles game, sat in full sun with no breeze, and drank only water but not enough. I luckily wasn't one of the several people I saw who required medical attention, but I was really not feeling my best by the end of the game, and I knew exactly why.

Don't make the same mistake I did. Drink your water. Take extra. Be prepared with electrolytes if you'll be sweating a lot. Stay safe out there.
