Mobility

Many people think of "mobility" as stretching or flexibility, but it's actually defined as "the ability to be moved, or to move freely."

Mobility training improves our joint function by increasing the pain-free range of motion in a joint.

Our joints are designed to move in different ways, but that movement (or mobility) can become limited. Sedentary lifestyles, injuries, repetitive movement patterns, and muscular imbalances can all contribute to dysfunctional joints.

When our joints aren't moving properly through their intended range of motion, it can cause other parts of the body to compensate, which can lead to poor movement quality and even injury.

When we focus on mobility training, we can increase our ranges of motion and our strength within those ranges. That allows us to move better, with less restriction and discomfort.

Proper mobility helps our joints handle the force of our movements, whether we're running, squatting, or reaching for something overhead, so we can move well and stay healthy and active.

Change takes time, but practicing a little bit of mobility on most days can make a huge impact in our joint health and function, which translates to all our daily movements in and out of the gym.
